A Ticket to Ride?
The Elephant in the Room
“Before you hand over your money, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Of course, the elephant in the room, or shall we say elephants, are the stories that everyone tells you about how it is to ride a motorcycle. Everyone you speak to has a gloomy motorcycle story, or so it seems.
Don’t do it they say, you’re mad, it’s so dangerous. Why would you want to kill yourself and so it goes on. I know a chap called Jonny Smith and he used to be called Jones, my grandad’s auntie knows a lady that lived in a road and her postman lost his fingers!
Where will it end I wonder and I ask you, everyone out there, that question too. I’m sure you’ve heard all the stories.
The logical way to think
Where will it end then? Well, it starts with training. No if’s, no but’s, no maybe’s. Think about this situation logically that I’ll describe to you now. I’ve been a trainer since 1998. At the time of writing that’s the best part of 18 years. Every day, I ride a motorcycle in towns, on motorways, dual carriageways, rural roads, city centres, night time, on the continent, you name it, I really have been there.
My average annual mileage on a motorbike is approximately 28,000, in conditions described by insurance companies as very high risk. Mmmmm, I wouldn’t disagree but there are ways of mitigating those risks and managing the environment in which I ride, on every journey.
You might say but Paul, you’re an instructor and you’ve been doing this a long time. I might reply, errrr, yes. And? So why am I still here when I ride so much, with riders that are learning how to ride who make lots of mistakes in their early days, and riding many more miles than most people will ever ride on a motorbike?
The only answer is training / coaching
There is only one answer and it’s training. I am no better than you but I have dedicated myself to learning. And that is the difference between you and I at this moment in time. If you want to ride a motorbike and be good, safe and have fun it starts and it ends with training. But not any old training from some ‘wannabe’ trainer, nor any old training from a shonky outfit. But really professional training that coaches you to change and develop your skills.
To get the best out of riding a motorcycle, the rider must invest in themselves or they may as well be a statistic or a postman who can no longer deliver the post.
To finish, just check out the notes below and see how it could be, but know as well, that it can also be very different. If you just want a ticket to ride we’re probably not for you. That part is up to you.”

At what price do you value your skills, your safety and perhaps your life?
Did you know that within the first six months of passing your motorcycle test, you are more likely to crash? Yes, you, the experienced car driver. We are likely to be the only people to tell you this until the examiner tells you on the day you pass your test.
How much will the poor, quick fix training really cost you? Really?
Did you know that you are 50 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured riding a motorcycle or a scooter than you are driving a car? We are likely to be the only people to tell you this, until you encounter the police or the ambulance of course.
Why rush to a crash?
Why would we tell you these facts when you are starting out on a route to obtain your motorcycle licence, either as a learner with CBT only, or a full motorcycle licence? After all, having read this you may turn away from us and motorcycling. Well, we mention it because we know that things can be very different and we care.
What price will you pay for comprehensive training?
We know that it’s the quality of the training and coaching in the early days that is vital to your skills and safety, not just now but in the long term, and your choice of trainer now is incredibly important. You have an opportunity with us to make not just a change of lifestyle, but a potentially life changing decision. The choice is yours.
Can you afford NOT to learn with Gordano Motorcycle Training?
Our experience and knowledge is second to none and along with fantastic tuition, Gordano Motorcycle Training provides financial certainty and security for all its students. It should be the case in learning a combination of cognitive and co-ordination skills, that your training course should fit you, and it should not be the case that you are fitting in with a pre-set timescale of the course. This is even more necessary when your life and limbs are potentially at stake.
Motorcycling is an art – take your time and enjoy the learning process
It is absolutely not the case, that you can join in with a pre-set timescale for a course and at the same time, be told that you will learn at your pace. How can that possibly be and we have to say, such statements are absolute rubbish.
